"Florida Man Found Guilty of Killing Couple Scheduled for State's First Execution of 2025"
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Nearly 30 years after murdering a husband and wife during a fishing trip, a Florida man is set to face execution in the state’s first scheduled execution of 2025.
Governor Ron DeSantis signed the death warrant for James Ford on Friday. Ford is scheduled to be executed on February 13 at Florida State Prison.
Ford was sentenced to death for the 1997 murders of Greg and Kimberly Malnory. Their bodies were discovered at the South Florida Sod Farm in a remote area of Charlotte County on April 7 of that year. According to court documents, both victims had been bludgeoned and shot, suffering multiple blunt force head injuries.
